Man Sells Over $4000 In Consoles He Never Had

A report is surfacing around the net that a man in Warren County, Ohio was indicted on charges claiming he was selling systems he did not even have to unknowing victims on eBay. The source of the story traces back to a tabloid, so who knows if it’s even true, but tabloids have been known to publish a few true stories in their publications. The story states that the individual known as Jeremy Sparks was indicted but unsure whether or not he had been arrested on charges yet.

Whether it’s true or not, consumers need to be real careful when purchasing items online. I purchased many items from eBay and other auction sites over the years, but have really cut back on the habit lately considering how many times I have been less than satisfied with a transaction. I’m definitely not knocking all eBay sellers, because there are some good ones out there, but it is always a risk. I’d never spend more on an item than I was willing to lose.

A man in Warren County, Ohio was indicted Monday on allegedly “selling” Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 3 consoles that he never had.

Jeremy Sparks, 22, put up photos of the Wii and PS3 consoles on eBay “so he could defraud victims across the country by agreeing to sell them electronic game systems which he did not have,” a grand jury report says.

According to The Enquirer, Sparks’ ads snared at least six buyers, said Warren County Prosecutor Rachel Hutzel.

His “winning” bidders turned out to be losers. Hailing from three states â$” Pennsylvania, Illinois and Minnesota â$” those six buyers forked over $4,214.18 to Sparks, officials say.
