The success of Wii Sports guaranteed countless knockoffs of the various sports included in the game, but there have been surprisingly few entries in the genre. With the MLB season just kicking off recently (which had as many Opening Days as there should be over the course of three years), Nintendo will be looking to capitalize on America’s national pastime of baseball, and what would a Nintendo sports game be without Mario? Cue Mario Super Sluggers.
Nintendo announced the game at their Media Summit in San Francisco this week. The game will naturally be controlled with the same style of motion controls introduced in Wii Sports. Hopefully the game will allow for more precision than a few simple pitch types and no control over your at-bat.
“Mario is truly a one-of-a-kind character; clearly fans can’t get enough of him and his friends,” said Nintendo’s Cammie Dunaway. “We’re giving Wii users brilliant new ways to enjoy him while expanding our series of active-play games.”

I wil totally be getting this game. I love baseball, hence my name, ManOfTeal is because I am a huge Florida Marlins fan, and teal is one of their team colors.

Yeah, this game sounds like a blast. If it’s as good as Superstar baseball with wii-sports controls, it should be hilarious. Online would be fun but I doubt they’ll do it well if at all.
