Mark Rein: ‘PCs Have Shot by Consoles,’ ‘Sun Hot,’ ‘Sky Blue,’ ‘Fire Bad’

Worried that consoles are eclipsing PCs among the populace and that gaming with a mouse and keyboard may be slowly decaying in the face of the gamepad? Well, don’t! Mark Rein says PCs are way better than consoles, so everything’s fine.

In a staggering admission of facts that have been true since FOREVER and are obvious to everyone, Epic Games VP Rein had this to say in an interview with PC Gamer:

‘Don’t forget every game that’s ultimately built is built on a PC. PCs are always going to be the tools through which all games get made,’ he said. ‘With the PC you can simulate the future – you can put enough hardware in a PC to show you what a future console will look like.’

Apparently, Rein was referring to an Unreal Engine tech demo from GDC 2011, in which the company showed off what the engine and three Nvidia GTX 580 cards can do.

So yes — the ability to add top-of-the-line hardware to a PC can make it as good as, like, the next console generation. You heard it last from Mark Rein.
