Mark Wahlberg is the New Max Payne

Yes, you heard me right – Mark Wahlberg, a.k.a.Dirk Diggler/Marky Mark/Izzy Cole (ad nauseam) will be playing Max Payne in the new motion picture to be directed by John Moore (Behind Enemy Lines). According to Variety online, the live-action adaptation of the bestselling Max Payne franchise from Rockstar Games will begin filming early next year.
That is all fine and dandy, I mean Mark Wahlberg is a decent actor, despite being Calvin Klein’s favorite underwear model, and hopefully the director and movie studio will not turn the great Max Payne into a steaming pile of… well you know. What I want to know is, when the hell is Max Payne 3 going to come out? With Rockstar getting a movie made about our favorite noir hero, hopefully a new one will be in the works – and have NOTHING to do with the movie.
Thanks: Variety Online

hmm I forgot that rox was the…. producer? And maybe owns the rights to the name. But when you speak about games… who cares a **** about who produces/publishes them. No matter how good they are, the game is made by developers

Remedy is far too busy turning Alan Wake from a tech demo into a game. Since Rockstar owns the Max Payne IP, they could technically do whatever they want with it… like hand it off to another developer.
Being the huge Max Payne fan that I am, I’d rather wait until Remedy frees itself up to dedicate itself to any possibility of a Max Payne sequel. Any other developer trying to tackle a Max Payne sequel would have a lot to live up to. Fans being rabid dogs and all…
