Mass Effect 3 Announces Another Multiplayer Weekend

Fans of Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer will have new incentives this weekend. Starting Friday, May 11th 6PM PST, and ending Monday, May 14th at 5AM PST, players will engage in “Operation Silencer.” The Operation will have two main goals:

  • Kill 3,000,000 Banshees — BioWare will keep careful track of how many freaky, long-legged enemies hit the dirt over the course of the weekend. If the playerbase manages to kill 3,000,000 of them, everyone will get a Victory Pack filled with consumables, upgrades, and items.
  • Survive until a full extraction on any map against any enemy on gold difficulty — If you and your squad can attain this (difficult) goal, everyone in the squad will get a Commendation Pack filled with useful weapons.

In light of all the controversy about the Mass Effect 3 ending, it’s surprising that multiplayer has proved so popular. Check out the infographic below for some impressive numbers:

I’m not sure it is so surprising. I was not a fan of the ending, but I was pleasantly surprised by the multiplayer, so I continue to play it and enjoy it. It really has no bearing on the ending.
