Matt Hooper Officially Denies That Recently Leaked Screens Are From Doom 4

Earlier this week, the Internet nearly asploded when several images purporting to be from Doom 4 were leaked, accompanied by a rumor that id Software had decided to pull the kill switch on the long-awaited fourth installment. Doom 4′s cancellation was soon denied by sources close to the game, but as no official statement from IDS on either the game, or the images, was offered, speculation continued apace.

That speculation may now end. id Software’s Matt Hooper took to Twitter on Wednesday and clarified matters once and for all. “Those images have nothing to do with what you’re gonna see in Doom4,” he said. “When we officially show things you’ll see awesome.” Obviously, based on Rage, we’ll agree to reserve judgement until we actually play the game. Still, good news for people dying to revisit the defining FPS of the Clinton years.
