Maxis Hiring for New “Unannounced” IP

Maxis is recruiting for new staff members to help it work on a “unique, emerging IP.”

This information comes via way of job posting at Electronic Art’s career website. The posting itself is for a senior designer position at Maxis and is seeking someone with an “understanding” of “crafting trees, technology trees, character RPG-style leveling design and mathematical loot progression modeling” as well as “simulation games, including SimCity, The Sims, and Spore.” It additionally indicated that the ideal candidate would likewise possess a knowledge of “Little Big Planet, Minecraft, and its popular mods, Roblox, Disney Infinity, Project Spark and other upcoming efforts.”

While the rest of the description provided few further details as to the nature of the game in question, it did affirm that it will be for “a new, unannounced” project. With The Sims 4’s release less than two months away at this point, it only makes sense that Maxis would be priming itself to start something new. What that something new is, meanwhile, is something we’ll be eager to uncover.
