Mechwarrior Online Brings the Trebuchet to Bear
It’s patch day for Mechwarrior Online, and that means it’s time for a new ‘Mech! In this case, it’s the Trebuchet, a medium ‘Mech that really loves missiles. My personal favorite of the bunch is the TBT-5N, a beefy medium with two missile and four energy hardpoints. Strip out the defaults and put some SRMs in there, and suddenly you have a nice close-range mech able to put out a surprising amount of damage.
Along with the Trebuchet comes a new map and some other, relatively minor changes. The new map is Alpine Peaks, and is far larger than any other map in MWO at the moment. If you are familiar with the old Mechwarrior games, it will feel very familiar thanks to its large size, long sight lines, and varied terrain. Some of the notable minor changes include improvements to machine-guns and flamers, a hidden Elo system to make matchmaking more accurate, changes to make the MechLab UI more usable, and “variant quirks” for the Centurion variants. You can take a gander at the full patch notes on the official site.
