Mechwarrior Online Open Beta Has Begun

Mechwarrior Online‘s open beta has begun, and Piranha Games President Russ Bullock expressed his gratefulness for the community that has supported the game in a recent blog post.

Bullock went on to explain that on November 13 (or thereabouts), a patch will reset the premium time for all Founders — which amounts to two free weeks of premium time — and will grant these members a “button” that allows them the opportunity to choose exactly when to start their premium time.

The president expressed that fans can continue to help Mechwarrior along by being a positive force on the forums, social feeds and in the game, by helping to spread the word and bring new players to the game, by continuing to submit support tickets with any issues or bugs found in the game, and by continuing to provide feedback.

I was excited until I realized this is just another game that lets players drop $100 to quickly unlock what would take your typical player months to unlock. Paying for a game-play advantage. When are these developers going to learn that this is not an acceptable business model?
