MediEvil Goes To Skyrim In Hero of Gallowmere

MediEvil is a classic action-adventure game starring a skeletal protagonist resurrected by magic. Skyrim is a massive open-world game game featuring exploration, dragons, and extensive shouting. Other than taking place in magical fantasy settings, there isn’t a lot in common between them, but now one modder is hoping to combine the two. Designed by KorinOo, the project called Hero of Gallowmere will bring content from MediEvil to Skyrim while updating classic combat mechanics along the way.

Unlike other modding adaptations, Hero of Gallowmere is not intended to be a 1:1 recreation of the classic game. While KorinOo hopes to make the maps generally as close to the original as possible, combat and interactions are to be updated to modern standards. (For example, we probably won’t need to read books by hitting them with weapons. Maybe shout at them instead?) The mod will cover the first four levels of MediEvil, roughly from the opening to the first boss of Mausoleum, although it’s possible more will follow if successful.

The initial trailer looks promising, but KorinOo notes that it’s a first-time mod project that could take a significant amount time to complete. Regardless, I think that if it takes players back to their fond memories of MediEvil, it will probably be considered a worthwhile pursuit. More details can be found at this Hero of Gallowmere forum thread.
