Meet All the Numbers in New Mighty No. 9 GDC Video
Keiji Inafune: “Give me $900,000 and I’ll make a new Mega Man. Only I can’t call it Mega Man because I don’t own the brand, but I’ll make it look and play just like Mega Man. Interested?”
Gamers: “Here’s $4 million. Go nuts.”
I’m leaving out a few details, but that fake conversation is essentially what happened when Inafune launched Mighty No. 9 on Kickstarter last year.
So how is the project, which is tentatively scheduled to ship to backers in the spring of 2015, shaping up? Inafune showed off a little prototype gameplay at GDC this week (down there in the video below), simultaneously revealing the eight other Mighty No.’s players will undoubtedly have to dispatch in their adventure. Take a gander:
Looking very Mega Man. Nice.
We’ll keep you posted on Mighty No. 9 as it makes its steady march to a 2014 release.
