Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Delayed….Again

Fans of the Metal Gear Solid franchise have been eagerly awaiting Snake’s swan song in the form of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots since 2005. Originally slated for a November 2007 release, the PS3 exclusive was delayed until Q1 2008. Now, it looks like we are going to have to wait a little while longer. According to Konami, the game will still be released in Japan in the first part of 2008, but the rest of the world will have to waiting until Q2 – which means sometime between April and June.

A spokesperson for Konami has stated that: “Konami has decided to delay the title’s release in order to make further improvements to the quality of the game and provide even greater enjoyment for more customers worldwide.” They also stated that they will be working continuously on MGS4, so that it will “meet everyone’s expectations.

While I can find no fault with Hideo Kojima wanting to make sure that his baby is perfect, I – like many who have been itching to play MGS4 – am disappointed that I will not be able to get my hands on it sooner. However, in the grand scheme of things, there are many titles out there to keep us occupied until it is finally ready for its devoted followers. Metal Gear Solid fans would rather wait for a great sequel than be force fed a mediocre game any day – all that would do is make us angry and do an injustice to our hero Snake.

If it means better quality and gameplay then I’d rather wait

I dont know if anyone is still under the imprssion this isnt exclusive to the PS3 but this should clarify it:

Assistant producer of MGS4 Ryan Payton:

“We’re telling our fans that if you want to play ‘Metal Gear Solid 4′, you have to buy a PS3″

Yes, too bad you didn’t bother to mention this bit:

“But soaring production costs mean it’s tougher for third-party games to turn a profit if they are limited to just one console. That’s especially true for the PS3, sales of which have lagged those of the Xbox 360 and Wii.”

Odd, something that i’ve been saying all along…and you ignore.

Whatever, the point is that in six months to a year it’ll be out for another platform, developers want to make as much money as possible on their product…and making this a PS3 exclusive is a bad move, it’ll do fine in the Asian market…let’s see how many people are willing to fork over 399.99 and up to play this game.

Averre why would I post a link to the interview if I didn’t want people to read it you ignorant ?

You are without a doubt the dumbest person I have ever seen on this site. You are one of the idiots who spent months insisting that MGS4 is definitely coming to the 360 so its understandable that you are now upset and desperately clutching at straws. The PS3 already has an install base of over 6m and will have well over 10m by the time MGS4 is released. MGS is also a system selling title and it has already been announced that it will be packaged in a bundle with a PS3 and Dualshock 3 controller.

Its true that third party exclusives are becoming rarer but your pathetic excuse for a brain fails to remember that unlike Microsoft Sony has an extremely strong lineup of 1st party exclusives. Its also funny how you ignore the amount of games that the 360 has lost exclusivity on. Lost Planet, Oblivion, Kane & Lynch, Crossfire and Eternal Sonata to name a few were all ’360 exclusives’ but are now on the PS3 or soon will be.

The PS3 also has more exclusives released or in development than the 360 does.

Anyway this is the last time I’m going to reply to you because you are obviously insane. If you truly believe ll the crap you come out with I suggest you dont go on any gaming sites for the next few years because you really aren’t going to like what you see

BTW Boston 2K who made Bioshock have never released a game on a platform other than the PC or 360 before so its quite interesting that they are now advertising for a Senior Console Programmer where ‘Experience with PS3 development is highly desirable’ and a Tools Programmer where ‘PS3 and production experience using Python or Ruby will be highly regarded’.

I love the lists, they are very detailed. it must take alot of work to know of all those exclusives, as for Xbox 360, i dont know what ones will be. Many times if a game is so good it goes multi-platform. I can imagine half those exclusives for PS3 will be garbage. and im sure many Xbox 360 exclusives will be as well.

from Norbits detailed list i can see 5-10 being good games, the rest the usual garbage.

And with all that coming out the PS3 -still- can’t get to #2 in worldwide sales.

If anybody is hoping beyond hope Norbit…it’s you, and i see you yet again resort to petty insults to get your tired, fanboy point across.

It’s a piece of plastic, getting this worked up over it is laughable.
