Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes Is Kojima’s Industry Shaker?

Remember earlier this week when Kojima promised that an announcement at the Metal Gear 25th anniversary party would ‘Shake’ the industry? So did it? Well, they’re making a MGS movie. Ho hum. But there’s also going to be a new game, something called Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. Very few reports have spilled out, but one attendee of last night’s event tweeted “Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes demo was truly amazing, running on a PC at current-gen specs. Wow.”

Luckily, Kojima has already officially announced the game. Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will apparently be an open world game – a first for the series – and one with an intriguing premise, “Game without Game Over.” Apparently, while stealth mechanics matter, you won’t instantly trigger a game over if you’re discovered, and the game will be about more than simple sneaking around and hiding. But is this what they mean? It might simply be that it’s going to be a GTA clone set in the Metal Gear universe, in which you can continue to dick around after completing the story. Yes, So far it sounds like a cool game, but hardly something that will shake up the industry. THANK YOU FOR OVERBLOWING IT GUYS!

Of course, we are intrigued by the possibility that it’s being designed for PC with current specs. I’ll play the hell out of it if that turns out to be the case. We’ll have to wait for that information, and while we do, here’s the first official image:

Sounds rather odd to do an open world Metal Gear, but Peace Walker did include plenty of side missions that could be done after the story was over, so the idea that you could do other things isn’t so far fetched.

I am kind of bummed to see Big Boss again since I’d really like to play as Solid Snake.

That demo was shown on a PC. Current gen high end PCs are already more powerful than next gen consoles.
