Metro: Redux Updates 2033 to Next-Gen

4A Games and Deep Silver have announced Metro Redux, a combo pack of fully remastered copies of Metro: 2033 and Metro: Last Light.

The remastered versions of the Metro series will be dubbed Metro: 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux will be available as separate digital downloads for $25 along with a boxed version which will contain both games for $50.

The “Redux” editions will be completely overhauled versions of the original titles:

  • The original game has been rebuilt in the latest and greatest iteration of the 4A Engine, bringing all the graphical and game-play improvements from Metro: Last Light to Metro 2033 Redux.
  • Experience radically improved game-play: advanced enemy AI, improved combat and stealth mechanics, superior weapon handling and more responsive, intuitive controls plus signature features from Last Light such as the atmospheric ‘mask wipe’ mechanic, weapon customization, and silent kills and takedowns.
  • Enjoy completely re-mastered visuals: advanced lighting, dynamic weather, more detailed characters with improved animation, more dynamic destruction and improved smoke, fire and particle effects.Metro: Last Light Redux will also include all previous season pass content, new melee animations, ‘check watch’ and ‘check inventory’ features and an additional 10 hours of new single-player content.

Metro Redux will also include a new playstyle for each title. Metro: 2033 Redux will have a new ‘survival’ play-style that ramps up the difficulty factor giving you fewer resources, stronger AI and slower reload speeds. Metro: Last Light Redux will have the ‘spartan’ play-style with stronger combat skills and more resources. If that wasn’t enough, the ‘legendary ranger mode’ returns for both titles that removes the hud and adds hardcore difficulty rules.

With the amount of content that’s included in Metro Redux, the price per game is worth the cost, especially if you’re a Metro fan. If you’ve never played either of these games before and enjoy spooky shooters, you shouldn’t pass this up when it’s released.

Metro Redux will be available for the XBox One, Playstation 4 and, of course, the PC this summer. Linux and SteamOS versions will become available in the future.

In the mean time, check out these teaser screenshots of what the remastered copies will look like.
