All I can say is it’s about time. After months of nothing really except the Internet Channel and Everybody Votes, there’s finally something new from the WiiWare Channel. Early this morning, Wii owners began received a notice that a new preview channel for Metroid Prime 3: Corruption had become available for download. Currently the channel features two videos that you can watch, with another two that should be unlocked on August 13. One video is mostly cinematic trailer that shows a bit of the story, while the other shows off the action-heavy gameplay. There’s also a simple painting program and modified background and cursor. August 13 is also the day that the original Metroid and Super Metroid should be available for the Virtual Console.
Guess Nintendo wasn’t kidding when they said there’d be more WiiWare content. Hopefully they launch a similar campaign for other major releases. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a Smash Bros. Brawl Channel.
Update:
Looks like the good people over at GameVideos.com have put up a video of the new channel that’s a lot better quality than most of the videos online. Enjoy!
