Microsoft Game Studios Snaps Up ‘Splosion Man Maker Twisted Pixel

Indie developer Twisted Pixel, the studio most recently behind the Kinect-only downloadable title The Gunstringer and hits ‘Splosion Man and Ms. ‘Splosion Man in the Xbox Live Arcade, has been acquired by Microsoft Game Studios.

Don’t freak out, though — sounds like this is a good thing.

In an interview with Joystiq, Microsoft Studios General Manager Matt Booty said MS doesn’t want to screw around with Twisted Pixel, but rather, have it keep doing what it’s doing on XBLA.

“Microsoft’s a very big company, and you’ve got Twisted Pixel, a relatively smaller developer. We’re very invested that they get to stay who they are, and they get to retain the magic they’ve got as a smaller indie developer,” Booty said. “We’d like to leave the golden goose alone, so to speak.”

Twisted Pixel also seems excited about the situation, stating on its website that the support of MS will give it more opportunities to create new IPs. Yeah, we’d like to see new stuff from them, too.
