Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor to Release One Week Earlier

Amid delays to several titles coming this fall, Warner Bros. has moved Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor’s release up one week.

We’re used to seeing game delays. No one was really surprised when Battlefield: Hardline and Dragon Age: Inquisition were moved back. Seldom do we see games move their release dates up, but that’s exactly what happened today as Shadow of Mordor will now hit stores on September 30.

According to the press release, the decision to move up the release was made, “Based on hearing fans’ excitement over the latest chronicle in Middle-earth.” This move means that what was once a crowded October release schedule continues to get lighter, and should only be a boon to games like Alien: Isolation, which was slated to share the October 7 date with Monolith’s take on Middle Earth.
