Minecraft Adds Pistons, Launch Still A Ways Off

There was good news and bad on the Minecraft front today. Via Edge Magazine, the beloved indie smash probably won’t be making its November 11th release date. That said, when it does release, players can look forward to the mechanical delights provided by pistons, which can be seen in the video embedded below. Initially thought to be relegated to a later version of the game, pistons are a surprise inclusion in Minecraft 1.7, which will be available — nebulously — “soon.”

Adventure mode, a new development which promises to reward exploration and combat, is not coming until version 1.8. Which, as Notch realistically points out, could be “a while.”

I believe that version 1.7, and therefore pistons, will be released this thursday.
