Minecraft and Civilization Combine in CivilizationCraft Mod
The CivilizationCraft mod melds the world building of Minecraft with the empire aspects of the Civilization franchise.
The mod, a project that’s been in the works for two years, recently saw the release of its version 1.2. In turn, the mod is apparently being released to the world of open source development so that fans and other modders can further expand it beyond the efforts of its original creators.
The mod as it stands includes a long list of impressive features including “capitals, towns, culture trade goods, governments, technologies, units, world wonders war, diplomacy, espionage” and more, all of which plays out in a real-time multiplayer. This, of course, differs from the turn-based nature of the actual Civilization games and likewise adds a unique emphasis on teamwork.
“The idea is to grow your Civilization from your starting capitol town to more and more towns,” described an Imgur gallery showcasing the mod. “Of course, you can’t do that alone- you need friends and teammates to help build your infrastructure.”
Minecraft fans interested in taking CivilizationCraft for a spin can find the download for version 1.2 at the mod’s official web page.
