Minecraft Has 20 Million Registered Users

Minecraft, The little indie game that could, has reached 20 million registered users. Creator Markus “Notch” Persson reported this via twitter, along with a fun fact about the Great Pyramid of Giza.

Notch said:

Minecraft now has 20 million registered users. At 70 kg each, that’s 25% of the weight of the Great Pyramid of Giza.

Minecraft’s 1.1 update is likely what put it over the top, and that 20 mil figure doesn’t even factor in all the pirates copies that Notch tacitly condones. Given dedicated fans have spent Notch-knows how many hours creating marvels like a stop-motion video of Super Punch-Out, physical models of Minecraft worlds, and the Star Wars Death Star run, it’s not surprising the game has so many registered users. Still, it is impressive.

Are you contributing to that registered user count?
