Minecraft Rakes in an Insane $33 Million
Holy crap, guys: the steamrolling beast that is Minecraft has earned $33 million since its inception. The game has had 800,000 alpha version players and more than 1 million beta version players. The alpha went for about $14.26 and the beta for $21.43.
Check out the Minecraft stats page, which lists just over 1.8 million customers. The whole thing came from a discussion on Reddit in which Markus Persson, Minecraft’s creator who goes by the handle Notch on the forum, discussed a few choice stats and other users extrapolated just how much money he now has (spoiler: enough to swim around in like Scrooge McDuck).
So yeah. Guess that Minecraft documentary makes a ton of sense.

I thought that Alpha was $10, and the Beta was $15…

@Brent
According to Minecraft’s site, it’s 10 and 15 Euros, respectively.
