Minecraft Servers Seeing Intermittent Service; They’re Working On It

Minecraft 1.0 was just released when Notch himself threw a giant cubic switch on the stage at Minecon 2011, but it might be tough to download just yet, given that every single person everywhere is trying to download it right now.

Service is intermittent due to traffic, according to Mojang web guy Tobias Mallstam on his Twitter account. Work is being done over at Amazon, who hosts the Minecraft servers, to keep things moving. Expect some delays, though, given that probably about 4 million people are currently trying to download the update to 1.0.

“The login servers are actually healthy but you guys are breaking the Amazon infrastructure. So it’s up and down, and hopefully more up.”

Be patient and go get your Minecraft on.
