Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition Is Selling Really Damn Well
Good news, everyone. The success story that won’t stop keeps not stopping. I’m speaking of course about Minecraft, which earlier this year released an Xbox 360 version that is actually kind of awesome. Players agree, and they’ve been voting with their wallets. Mjang is reporting that since launching, the game has sold an impressive 17,000 copies per day.
This, by the way, puts the company on track to double their profits yoy. That’s not because Minecraft Xbox 360 is outselling all other version by two to one, but because an increasing amount of revenues stay within the company. “Since Mojang keeps more of the earnings from the new Minecraft versions, our turnover increases a lot this year,” Mojang MD Carl Manneh said, “Our profits will more than double. Markus’ company will also make more money, though perhaps not as high a percentage as Mojang.”
Incidentally, in 2011, they netted £52 million with a profit of £15 million; this means that by the end of 2012 Notch will have a gold plated fedora. Methinks Mojang employees are going to be very happy at the end of the year.
