Minecraft’s Diamond Sword Forged in Real Life

Our friends at Break Media have uploaded a new video on their AWE Me channel to showcase the construction of Minecraft’s iconic Diamond Sword in real life.

The new video is a part of the on-going “Man at Arms” series, which aims to show off the work of real life blacksmith Tony Swatton, who forges real-world versions of popular video game weapons and ones from TV shows. Swatton previously forged Sora’s Keyblade: The Kingdom Key, from Kingdom Hearts; and Jaime Lannister’s sword, from the Game of Thrones TV series.

Swatton uses high-speed belt grinders, furnaces, and stamps the metal together with methods used by weaponsmiths from medieval times to bring these weapons to lifeā€”in real life.

If you’re into 3-D chalk art, be sure to also check out Chris Carlson’s render of the chalk diamond sword in 2-D.
