Mod Brings Minecraft into Crysis For Some Reason
So there’s Crysis, a game known for its graphical envelope-pushing fidelity. And there’s Minecraft, a game that sacrifices graphics for random generation and an infinitely adjustable world. But wouldn’t you want the worst of both scenarios combined into a single game?
Actually, I’m just kidding — Craftable, a mod that brings Minecraft into Crysis using CryEngine, is actually something more of a proof-of-concept, and despite my goofing, it’s not bad. The mod demonstrates how easily CryEngine can handle creating the Minecraft universe and it’s pretty effective, allowing players to wander around in a Minecraft-like world, placing more than 30 blocks to build stuff.
Of course, many of the bigger and cooler features of Minecraft don’t make it into the mod. TNT doesn’t explode, for example, and there’s no mining or crafting to be done; this is purely building and destroying blocks. The game is also free of monsters and other things that make Minecraft Minecraft. Still, it is pretty neat to see Minecraft mix with Crysis. Check out the video below for more.
