Modern Warfare 3 Gets a New Mode in Next DLC Pack

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has another DLC map pack coming, called Collection 2, and with it comes a new multiplayer game mode.

Called Face-Off, it offers a more intimate experience of one-on-one and two-on-one games, so the “I got sniped from across the map DAMMIT” should be kept to a minimum. Infinity Ward is also pushing four new maps to go with the mode with cut-down sizes to accommodate the mode.

As always, the maps are coming out as timed Xbox 360 exclusives before moving on to other platforms. All Xbox MW3 players will get the first two maps for free starting on May 15: Aground, a shipwreck scene, and Erosion, set in Roman ruins and including an exploding volcano.

The next two maps, Getaway and Lookout, drop for Xbox players on May 22. One is set in a Brazilian mansion, while the other is located in Afghanistan.

Also coming with Collection 2 are more standard multiplayer offerings: three new maps, in fact. Call of Duty: Elite subscribers will have already had access to two of them, dubbed Sanctuary and Foundation. The third, Oasis, is new for everyone. Oh, and you’ll get a pair of new Spec Ops cooperative missions, too.

No word on when the PC or Playstation 3 versions of this DLC will be available for Modern Warfare 3 players, although the lag for Xbox 360 exclusives is usually about a month.

Thanks, CVG.
