So are we not available to recruit troops from Essos villages now? I see the changelog mentions they use a mix of their own troops/sellswords now, but cant recruit from the villages?

I love longbowmen in this game! The Vale Longbowmen were my favorites! They looked so cool in their simple mail and surcoat with only a sword and a bow..

As an avid M&B player, I feel I need to point out a glaring, yet fixable, flaw in your mod that hinders an otherwise fantastic piece of work.

A lot of units use polearms: spears with shields in particular, and while this is lore and reality friendly, the way M&B handles polearms as a base actually ends up making a lot of troops useless because of that they use these spears. A good example would be Volantis, a very powerful faction, correct? Except they are not so since their armies are easily defeated by the armies of Lys. Lannisport and driftmark Spearmen have costs in the thousands yet they're far outclassed by any soldier wielding a 1-handed swinging weapon instead of a spear.

Instead of just vaguely stating it as fact, however, I'm going to ewxplain why this happens. The way spears work in Vanilla M&B, they require a sizeable windup and a sizeable distance in order to do their damage and not thud. Not only is this not a realistic portrayal of a spear, the AI isn't actually equipped to handle how they work correctly and will often push themselves right up against the enemy, making their spears thud uselessly while they get wailed on by anyone that doesn't have a spear.

Obviously this problem is extremely unrealistic and many mods have taken measures to fix this glaring problem: PoP and many others have the overhead strike, Floris has it's own lower and upper animations, and Viking Conquest increased thrusting speed across the board and gave it their own upper animation.

An easy fix to this glaring problem would simply be to follow suit and change the animations. Most people agree that Viking Conquest did spear animations the best, so lifting those animations would be a good start.

Also: the forests on the map are far too dense, which makes holding areas like the Stormlands an absolute nightmare because you're unable to see even your own party amid the thick clusters of trees. The choice for this perplexes me, because in previous versions of this mod the tree density was fine.

From what i've seen, when infantry have both a polearm and a 1H-weapon.The AI seems fairly smart when to use each one. So using Morgh's editor and giving spearmen a basic 1H-weapon should solve that problem.

Agree with you on the other points too.

For some reason my companions are not showing their skills like training and engineering, and when I go to build something it defaults to my 0 for engineering?

There is code for armour penalties (plus others) in VC source code which csn be freely used.

Great, how do I disable it for this mod? I feel like skill penalties for encumbrance is enough.

I'm afraid you can't remove the penalties..

That seems very unlikely tho, they weren't in Native so they're not hard-coded in or anything. There has to be some lines of data somewhere I can scrap.

It might be possible but I believe someone else asked that question a while ago and he was told it wasn't possible...
