I've given up on Arma III's incurably horrible infantry AI, and have returned to Ghost Recon via the tremendously terrific Heroes Unleashed mod!

    Download this baby now!

I've been replaying the default GR Campaign using this, and the Iron Mountain mission currently has a bug which doesn't allow you to load from a save, but if one isn't willing to Iron Man it through, one can skip through it using console commands. That said, every Campaign mission afterward has been a real treat! The opening cinematics that Apex added are perfect, and significantly deepen one's immersion into the game. He's altered the Campaign missions in impressive ways, from reinforcements being delivered by vehicles to new AI routines that will put your heart in your throat and KEEP it there till the very end!

Even playing Mission maps is enormously better than before. One's spawn location is randomized, as is enemy placement. The AI's gear has been married to their capabilities, that is, if you see one wearing a bulky vest, odds are high that he's wearing armor and that more rounds are going to be needed to take him down. This AI will HUNT YOU DOWN and lay suppressing fire on you - be ready to shoot and scoot!

It's almost impossible for me to heap enough superlatives onto this labor of love.

I'm running one other mod with this: GPNVG-18, which adds the latest in NVD technology, panoramic night vision.

Other than the loading glitch in Iron Mountain, everything's running silky smooth and is captivating.

Apex poured his guts out into this thing, and my hat goes off to him out of DEEP respect. THANK YOU Apex and I can't wait to see what other tricks he has up his sleeves.

How do I use the first person mod or third person?

run the game, get into a mission, minimize the window, then run the .exe that you like and applies to you. 32-bit or 64-bit. I like the 3rd person one.

        I actually like this one "FirstandThirdmerged64 2017.EXE"

Third person doesn't work, on this specific EXE. They're all FPS positions.
Keep pressing "I" until you hit the correct first person view.

Make sure you look down and see your player model centered.

I noticed one of the positions within this EXE has your player model to the right side and I can't enter doorways until I move a little to the left. Weird, but easily fixed.

    Hello ApexMods,

I have a few questions about the mod. I have it installed right now and I noticed that in the changelog it said that the game should have a revamped kit selection menu, but I still need to click 200 times to select some kits. Whats the deal with this?

Also, I noticed that from the start you can choose from numerous silenced weapons. Isn't this overpowered? And is there any reason I should NOT choose a silenced weapon?

I also tried the Legacy Kit Add-on mod but it didn't really change the weapons.

    Would greatly apreciate a response!

    P.S.

    Congratulations on the amazing mod!

I can probably help with this so...

You don't need to click 200 times anymore, just hold the swap equipment button and the equipment will get changed pretty fast.

As for the suppressed weapons go, they depend on your tactics. Maybe your tactics call for setting a kill zone for your opponents to run into, you can use loud weapons for that and neutralize them while they look for the source. Maybe your tactics call for remaining hidden for as long as possible, which is why suppressed weapons exist. Also your weapon selection depends on the mission at hand. If the mission is on the middle of a battlefield, you might want to use loud weapons. They tend to be more accurate and faster on the targets. However if the mission is to rescue hostages, plant explosives without alerting certain enemies, or something similar, use suppressed weapons. The slighty lower accuracy is compensated by the fact that you can take your time aiming.

I haven't tried the Legacy Add-on, but I guess it changes the HUD back to how the game used to be.

So I just thought of something that may help the restart/load game CTD. I bought ghost recon and it's expansions on steam and that is what i am using to run heroes unleashed. So my thought/question is, does anyone know if the steam version is patched to 1.4 if you have island thunder and desert siege installed? Maybe that is what's causing the instability if it isn't? Just a thought.

This mod is a masterpiece. Amazing job Apex! Unfortunately though, I am also getting the crash that some other users described. It only crashes when clicking restart, or loading a previously saved game. I tried the F6/F7 method and also manually saving and loading and neither have worked. My drivers and everything are also up to date. I even tried different compatibility settings to no avail. I will play this amazing mod regardless, but I would love to see a fix.

Absolutely adore this mod, would love it if you could play as the female characters from singleplayer in MP, but that's not the mods fault. This mod makes co-op and sp just a complete blast to play with tonnes of weapons and features, I particularly love the shotgun mechanics.

Only complaint is that some missions can be a bit annoying with the 1 rocket limit for anti tank weapons, perhaps 2 would be a good number, at least for non-disposable ones. Also not to offend the level designers, but some of the new maps/missions could do with some more work, and the random mission generator isnt as fun as how structured the originals are, but many are nevertheless fun and impressive.

Other than maybe adding female multiplayer playermodels [because why not] and maybe a steyr AUG which arent at all necessary, this mod is pure gaming gold, I love it. Keep up the good work, excited for whatever the future of this mod may bring :D

nvm, found out you could play as specialists from sp in mp when using joint ops, well played.
