Pirates, Vikings, and Knights (PVK) is a Half-Life modification (MOD) focused on bloody, frantic, multiplayer melee action. Three teams of warriors from historical eras compete for either booty or blood. Unlike other MODs, PVK focuses on melee weapons rather than projectiles. Whereas most MODs regard melee weapons as mere "back-ups", PVK is focused on close-range combat. This results in some really intense gameplay and some really intense yelling and screaming at 2:00 AM. We would like some input on how our ideas fare with the Half-Life community. Play the friggin' game, and give us some feedback so we can make it better.
Beta 0.5 (initial release)
-Three multiplayer maps: castle, dungeon, and colosseum
-Team deathmatch gameplay enabled.
Classes: heavy knight, man-at-arms, bowman
Weapons: mace, small sword, two-handed sword, crossbow, longbow
Classes: pirate captain, skirmisher pirate, sniper pirate
Weapons: dagger, cutlass, musketoon, flintlock pistol, marksman's musket
-PVK specific commands:
changeclass- kills you if alive and allows you to rechoose your class.
changeteam- kills you if alive, subtracts a frag and allows you to rechoose your team and class.
-Vikings are not yet included in this beta. Well, you can play as them and walk around as a viking with a helluvalotta health, but they have no weapons.
-"Booty" gameplay mode has not been enabled for pvk_castle and gladiator gameplay mode has not been enabled for colosseum.
-No skirmish pirate, and bowman player models. For this release, they'll look like another member of the same team. There is also only one viking model for all classes.
-Not all animations are completly perfected yet, and may not even all be there.
-Wierd thumb textures for pirates.
-Wierd tweaked wrists for rifle-stocked weapons.
-When you use the changeclass or changeteam commands, the video loops you flying or something. It's kinda weird, but doesn't affect any gameplay.
-Garrett screwed up the sprites, so they're not transparent anymore. What a dork...
