Mojang Says Cobalt Could Be Released Friday

The first game Mojang will release as a publisher, Cobalt, may be available for PC come Friday. At least, that’s what the company hopes.

Managing Director Carl Menneh told EDGE that Mojang still has to tie up some loose ends before it can launch the game, but it’s hoping to do so Friday. One of the biggest hurdles has been a universal Mojang log-in that’ll work for Minecraft, Scrolls and Cobalt. There’s also some polish that needs to go on Cobalt before it can be distributed to the public.

But that’s not to say you can expect Cobalt to be done on Friday, even if you can purchase it. The game is still coming out in an alpha state just like Minecraft did, with buyers receiving free updates until the game’s official gold launch sometime in the future.

We’ll update you as we find out whether Cobalt will actually be available Friday or not.
