Mojang to Add Robust World Customization in Minecraft 1.8

Mojang is adding a detailed tool for customizing your Minecraft worlds in the next update.

In the YouTube video above, Mojang shows off the new tool. It includes 16 sliders that can control various options in Minecraft’s terrain generator, as well as the ability to input your own values directly. You can turn structures, caves, and other options on and off, as well as manipulate the sea level. The tool will also include seven presets from Mojang, including a world filled with water and the return of floating islands.

We’ve always had the ability to somewhat control our Minecraft worlds using seeds, but this new tool will give players more control than they’ve ever had, and that’s a good thing. You can bet that this will lead to some pretty awesome custom worlds being built.
