Monster Hunter: Sci-Fi Shooter Evolve Up for Pre-Order

Game Informer got the exclusive reveal last week, but today Turtle Rock Studios (Left 4 Dead) and publisher 2K Games took over announcement duties for Evolve.

Along with sharing the box art and a couple new details about the sci-fi co-op/multiplayer shooter in a press release, 2K fired up the hype machine well ahead of Evolve’s planned fall release.

“Evolve will be a generation-defining multiplayer experience,” 2K President Christoph Hartmann stated. “As our first new IP for next-gen systems, 2K is working with Turtle Rock Studios to deliver a game that’s instantly entertaining and impossible to put down.”

Generation defining, eh? No pressure, Turtle Rock.

About those new details: we knew Evolve features 4v1 action, with four human hunters tracking down one player-controlled alien monster, and that the hunters will each have their own unique abilities and the monster will grow progressively larger and more powerful as the match progresses. What we didn’t know was that the hunters will play in the first-person perspective while the monster will feature a third-person camera. Turtle Rock also revealed the first monster’s name — Goliath. (Something tells me a rock fired from a sling won’t take this sucker down.) Note the emphasis on “first.” Evidently Goliath won’t be the only monster character players can become.

Interested? You can shell out your pre-order dollars right now because Evolve is available for pre-purchase starting today. 2K is throwing in the ‘Savage Goliath’ skin as well as a “new monster character as soon as it becomes available” with all pre-orders.

Can’t wait to see this one in action.
