More Mass Effect Comics Are Coming

Via Joystiq comes news that is not surprising but still welcome for those of you who can’t get enough of the Mass Effect universe. Newsarama is offering pretty in-depth coverage of C2E2 2011 (Chicago Comics & Entertainment Expo1), and during a panel discussing comics and video games, Dark Horse Comics rep Jeremy Atkins confirmed what we all already knew, that more Mass Effect spin off comics are coming.

I admit I’m not a fan of the Mass Effect comics. They’re written by lead BioWare writer Mac Walters, and while he most definitely knows a thing or two about writing for video games, he knows next to nothing about what makes a good comic. The tone and pacing of Mass Effect: Redemption are terrible, but worst of all is the art, which does not measure up, aesthetically or otherwise, to the brilliantly rendered in-game style of the Mass Effect series. Of course, that’s just my opinion – maybe you love it, in which case please, feel free to tell me to STFU while you look forward to the next ill-advised awesome installment in the ME comics’ universe.

Me? Rest assured The Arrival, and Mass Effect 3 cannot come quickly enough, though I’ll pass on the comics.

You can watch the full coverage of this panel over at Newsarama.

1) C2E2? seriously? Why not 3 X 1 – 1 C + E? or 2CE?
