Paragon Over Renegade: Mass Effect 3 Infographic Details Habits

BioWare didn’t have much to show at PAX, at least with regard to Dragon Age 3 or the next Mass Effect title. However, did they go over some of the more interesting statistics about Mass Effect 3, which they collected through the game. As long as players were connected to the internet, data was sent through the BioWare servers as players played through the game.

As those of you who’ve played through the Mass Effect trilogy will know, the games provide you with an array of options on how you decide to play through the game. You can be a male or female Shepard, choose your squad members, and even decide whether Shepard is a paragon or a renegade with his or her actions.

Through their data collection efforts, BioWare has put together an infographic detailing how the game’s many players went through Mass Effect 3. Check it out below.

According to their findings, an overwhelming majority of players chose male Shepard over female Shepard. Almost as many players opted to play as Paragons instead of Renegades. And a very small minority of players (3.8%) chose to kill Mordin in Mass Effect 3. How about them apples?

An amazing compilation of statistics, strange how they did not gather the one statistic that mattered “What percentage of players had the franchise ruined for them with the ending?”

That’s just about what I was thinking… I was wondering about the statistics of the ending and how it affected people… Of course, they’re not gonna talk much about the ending at all though… They don’t wanna possibly reactivate some more negative publicity… Most people have just tried to move on by now. :( Unfortunately.

Seriously, Mass Effect had an incredible amount of problems in both story and gameplay aspects waaaaayyy before the ending.

Ha, yeah. They claim that most folks are actually satisfied now, but have never actually released any data to back up that claim, and the only BioWare sponsored poll that I’m aware of came out prior to the EC, and was overwhelmingly negative.

Interesting stuff! Male default paragon Shepard all the way! ;)

I was one of the 18% that made a female Shepard, one of the 8% that didn’t cure the Genophage, in the 3.8% that shot Mordin, and one of the 8.1% that played an Adept. I guess I played Mass Effect a lot differently to everyone else.

I played a badass almost full Renegade that took care of and put my team ahead of myself, but when it came to anyone outside the normandy, well he/she better watch what he says or he aint leaving alive.

And if your going to ask me for a damn interview, you better have a helmet on.

Only made it through ME3 1x.

Vanguard FTW!

(and I cried watching Youtube vids of people shooting Mordin)

And the series just seems more badass with a FShep.

Played a female Shep because I just couldn’t bear the male Shep’s voice. Played soldier and vanguard, always Paragon, and did not shoot Mordin. The loss of Ashley in ME1 was the most devastating experience, and I kept it that way to keep the game as real as possible. Kaidan surviving got hell, because he kept reminding me that I had lost one of the best in the crew. ME3 I played only once though… since all endings are the same no matter how you play.

I wish BioWare would release the data concerning Romances; I want to know once and for all if Tali is number one for male Shepard, or if it’s Liara. Hell, maybe even Miranda is the most popular.
