More than 70 Titans Lost in Eve Online’s Second Biggest Battle Ever

Oh, so that’s what a 3,000 ship battle in Eve Online looks like.

The above screen captures the scope of the conflict that erupted last night, which clocks in as the second biggest battle in Eve’s history. Reddit provides the details:

  • A peak of more than 3,000 players.
  • More than 70 Titans, Eve’s biggest, most powerful ships (think Star Wars Super Star Destroyer-big) lost.
  • Trillions of ISK (Eve’s in-game currency) lost. For reference, one billion ISK converts to roughly $25 real-world dollars.
  • More than 28,000 Excel spreadsheets destroyed.

Okay, I made up that last bullet point, but the other stuff is legit.

I don’t play Eve, but love observing from afar these wars that occasionally blow up. Evidently, this sci-fi donnybrook between the N3PL and CFCRUS factions was sparked by one party not paying the bill for a space station.

That’s a hell of a way to evict a tenant.

1 plex = 19.95 = ~600million isk. 1 billion would be closer to… 30$-35$ I think

I agree. These battles do look epic. I have never played Eve. Maybe one day I will give it a try.

Yep, that’s exactly what it looked like in game – a screenshot that never updates because the engine can’t actually handle battles of that magnitude. You have to zoom out to the point ships are nothing but dots and the game runs at about 1/10th normal speed. And people pay for this.
