MS Offers Xbox One “Day One Edition” for Early Customers

Microsoft has just unveiled plans to release a Day One Edition of the Xbox One, which is available for anyone who pre-orders a unit ahead of its release at participating retail outlets.

The so-called Day One Edition comes with a limited edition Xbox Day One branded controller, a commemorative Day One Achievement to show off on Xbox Live, and some in-game DLC for launch titles tied to the system.

Players who pick up Forza Motorsport 5 gain access to four cars tuned to the top of their class. Kinect Sports Rivals players get exclusive sporting equipment. Ryse: Son of Rome players are rewarded access to an exclusive multiplayer map and a special sword, and finally, players in Dead Rising 3 will get DLC for Frank West and Chuck Greene in the form of Tribute Packs, both of which allow the player to dress up as characters from the previous game, replete with equipment and weaponry.

Well.. OK…

I would have been much more impressed with a year of XBL. I suppose that’s a little unreasonable, though.

@Kazoo
Except that would mean micro$oft would lose money on monthly subscriptions. So instead they are gonna throw useless at people, like fancy box art, system decals, and “achievements”. Also pre-order bonuses that would of been standard as DLC or pre-order bonuses anyways, with or without this day-one edition crap. Even when they did bundle free Xbox Live time with the first console and I am pretty sure the 360 with release it was only 1-3 months I think, and certainly not a year.
