MTV To Make Games Out of Comedy Central and Spike TV Production
Hey, remember that Deadliest Warrior game on PSN and Xbox Live? I assume some of you do, since it sold 400,000 copies. Those sales numbers were good enough that MTV has set up a new games studio to make another one, along with more games based on Spike TV properties — and Comedy Central properties as well. The new studio, 345 Games, already has in the pipeline Deadliest Warrior: Legends and Ugly Americans: Apocalypsegeddon, which I guess is based on a Comedy Central show — I’m not too hip to TV because I only watch sports, Community and whatever shows are on AMC.
The new Deadliest Warriors game will be like the old Deadliest Warriors game (fighting game), and the Ugly Americans game will be a co-op side-scrolling shooter featuring talent from the show. Both will be 800 MS points/$10 when they become available later this year.
Deadliest Warrior is a history nerd-wank fantasy show about theoretical battles between dead badasses. Apparently, Ugly Americans is “animated horror-comedy.”
Man, I’m really lacking in the TV section of my pop culture knowledge. Not that I’m overly concerned about that.
