Must Watch: 17 Minutes of Batman: Arkham Origins Gameplay

If, like me, you have some serious questions and concerns about Batman: Arkham Origins, you’ll want to see this.

Rocksteady stand-in WB Montreal just delivered 17 minutes of gameplay footage, complete with dev commentary, and it highlights what appear to be Origins strengths: the addition of the Bat Cave as a base of operations; exploring an open world that’s twice the size of Arkham City; getting around that huge world quickly by jumping into the Bat Wing for fast travel; and a focus on using Batman’s stealth and predatory skills when facing the GCPD and SWAT. See it all for yourself below:

Very nice. It appears the Batman: Year One-influenced narrative will bring some good challenges as well as a compelling storyline. I still worry that Rocksteady and writer Paul Dini weren’t involved, but this video did a good job of quelling a number of my fears.

It also serves as a timely reminder — Batman: Arkham Origins is set to arrive on Friday.
