N-Control’s New Marketing Rep: “There Isn’t A Bus Big Enough For Me To Throw Paul Christoforo Under”
N-Control, makers of the Avenger controller, have had a rough week, thanks to the actions of now-fired Marketing Representative Paul Christoforo. Christoforo’s abusive, bullying behavior toward a jilted Avenger customer and his incoherent, typo-ridden responses to the well-deserved public reaction will now live on as one of 2011′s craziest gaming moments. Frankly, his career is over. Unfortunately, as the details about the matter came to light this week, Ocean Marketing’s practices, including astroturfing and sock puppetry, managed to tarnish N-Control’s reputation as well. This has culminated in the controller being completely savaged in customer reviews on Amazon. A terrible outcome, especially considering that the controller was designed to assist disabled gamers.
N-Control has now issued a lengthy press statement that aims to put the matter to rest, move forward and reassure skittish buyers and potential customers alike. “N-Control would like to publicly apologize to existing and potential customers, as well as the gaming community at large,” the statement says, “for allowing Mr. Christoforo to abuse his power so unforgivably.” The statement reiterates that Christoforo was fired, and confirms that Austin-based consultant Moisés Chiullan has been hired to manage N-Control’s marketing moving forward.
If statements attributed to Chiullan in the press release are any indication, N-Control’s new marketing strategy will not hinge on embracing timidity. “I can’t worry about the fact that there isn’t a bus big enough for me to throw Paul Christoforo under,” Chiullan says, presumably backed up by Flava Flav shouting YEAH BOYEEEE in the background. “The internet did that for me. I think they set him on fire too.” Chiullan also noted “We have to move forward and take care of Avenger’s customers,” and the Press Release confirms that effort begins immediately.
First, it is confirmed that all orders for the PS3 version of the Avenger will ship by no later than January 15th, 2012. In addition, all customers who pre-order the controller will receive the same $10.00 discount that was offered to a limited amount of customers prior to the beginning of the holidays. Those who have already received the discount won’t be eligible for an additional discount, but presumably, the money back guarantee will be honored.
