Namco Says Despite Rumor, No Plans for Dark Souls on PC (UPDATE)

Update: Now there’s a petition to bring Dark Souls to PC. You can sign it by going right here.

Time to play “Does this forum post indicate an upcoming game?”

It appears — no. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves.

So after a forum posting on Namco Bandai’s European website touched off some speculation that the well-reviewed RPG Dark Souls might make its way to the PC in the future. Responding to a player question, a Namco employee states that demand might be enough to bring Dark Souls to the platform, but so far, it doesn’t seem it was really there.

But the very idea got the Internet buzzing, and Rock Paper Shotgun reached out to Namco to find out if seeing Dark Souls on PC was a possibility. The publisher responded, saying it had no comment as to whether a PC version is in the cards.

All they have to do is advertise is use Steamworks and I guarantee it would be successful!

I would love to see these really good console games reach the PC platform too, but I think it’s highly unlikely. Also hoping that DS’s success will yield a third game in the franchise.

I’m sure From Software already have plans for the next generation consoles ;)

You can blame this directly on the executives who heard from the bean counters that it’d be profitable to bring it to PC and STILL denied the opportunity. Why did they?

Because they don’t want admit that the PC, with it’s less-restrictive platforms, is the way of the past and, surprisingly, the future.

It wont come to the PC because people will cheat, and the game will be a joke. I have played that game on the xbox 360, it IS awesome no doubt. Honestly though, set aside a week to just rip your hair out trying to beat the game..
