Name Change: Klei’s Incognita is Now Invisible, Inc.

After losing a bet involving scuba gear, a hang glider and a bucket of lard, Klei has agreed to change the name of its upcoming tactical espionage game, Incognita, to Invisible, Inc.

I wish that were true. The name change part, that’s fact, but it didn’t happen because of an outlandish wager. No, sadly, the explanation is far more pedestrian. As Klei explained in an Incognita Invisible, Inc. forum post:

“After some focus testing, Invisible, Inc. was better received than the old ‘Incognita.’ Our focus of the design does not change in that it will still be a game of turn based tactical espionage.”

Something tells me Klei didn’t ask this same focus group for its input on Don’t Starve or Shank. Thankfully.

Anywho, same game, different name. And as a fan of tactical strategy as well as Klei’s work, I’m looking forward to Invisible, Inc. Our own James Murff went hands-on back in September and compared Invisible, Inc. to XCOM and FTL. That’s high praise.

See for yourself how the top-down spy agency goes to work in the trailer below, and if you’re interested, pre-order Invisible, Inc. for $17 to gain access to the early alpha today.
