NAMI Calls for Manhunt 2 to be Recalled

manhunt-2-boxart.jpgHad enough Manhunt 2 news yet? Yes? No?

Let’s have some more.

The National Alliance for Mental Illness has asked for Manhunt 2 to be recalled or modified, and for retailers to decline selling the game. Citing various inaccuracies, NAMI executive director Mike Fitzpatrick said, “We do not favour censorship, but we do ask for responsible exercise of creative rights when serious public health concerns are at issue.”

He continued, “Even though some people may consider Manhunt 2 to be only a game, it unfortunately perpetuates and reinforces cruel, inaccurate perceptions that people who live with mental illness are violent.”

“The US Surgeon General has condemned such stigmatisation, identifying fear of stigma as a major barrier to people getting help when they need it,” he added.

I cannot fathom this being the last bit of outrage geared towards the game; we’re certainly a lot closer to the beginning than the end.

    “Citing various inaccuracies”

Holy crap. Are they serious? Have they ever played a video game? They are BASED on innaccuracies. If they were even romotely “accurate” they would be no fun.

Who really cares? I mean, honestly.

That’s like people getting offended that the word retard is used during a Comedy Central stand up.
