NBA Elite 11 Delayed Just A Week From Release
In what has to be a first in gaming history, EA has delayed NBA Elite 11 on the PS3 and Xbox 360 from its October 5 release date due to harsh reaction to the demo. This is not a joke. From the computer of Peter Moore himself:
The decision to delay NBA ELITE was hard because the game has great promise. But ultimately we feel this is the right thing to do. We’ve been making steady progress on basketball for the past few years and it’s going to take extra time to make the game.
Why make this decision now? As with all of our titles, we continue to evaluate and improve the code right up until launch. Feedback from consumers is a very important part of the process . NBA ELITE had the benefit of play-testing, a demo and a lot of our own research. All that feedback revealed some concerns about gameplay polish, so we’ve listened to your feedback, and made a judgment that the game would benefit from more time in development.
EA renamed their flagship NBA franchise from Live to Elite because this year’s edition was intended to shake things up so immensely that a rebranding was deemed appropriate, but I guess s**t just didn’t shake out the way they thought it would. But damn.
They’re going to play this by ear, and so there’s no telling when or if the game will even ship this year. In the meantime, EA will offer free roster updates throughout this coming NBA season for free to NBA Live 10 players.
