NBA Jam Shipping as a Standalone on PS3 and 360

EA had planned to sell the full version of their NBA Jam revival only on the Wii and for a limited version of the game to come bundled with new copies of NBA Elite 11 on the 360 and PS3, but now that Elite has been pushed back to some undetermined date in the future, plans have changed. I previously speculated that the game would eventually come out as a standalone on Microsoft’s and Sony’s consoles, and Peter Moore has confirmed that speculation in his announcement about Elite’s delay.

NBA JAM will launch on the Wii, as scheduled, on October 5. NBA JAM won recognition this summer as the best sports game at E3 and it’s a blast to play. In addition to the Wii version, we’re going to ship NBA JAM as a standalone product on the Xbox360 and PS3 in time for the holidays. Watch for more news soon on the exact timing of that release.

He uses the word “ship” there in regards to the 360 and PS3 version of the title, whereas when it was going to be bundled, it was to come as a download that could be obtained via a download code included with Elite. So perhaps 360 and PS3 users will get more than just the partial version they’d been promised.
