NCsoft Hits the 4 Million Mark with Guild Wars
NCsoft is proud to announce its Guild Wars franchise of MMORPGs has sold over 4 million units in just two years. The Guild Wars series, developed by ArenaNet and published by NCsoft, features the original Guild Wars, Guild Wars Factions, and Guild Wars Nightfall.
This news comes on the eve of the company’s latest content update, a true sequel to the original Guild Wars game, Guild Wars: Eye of the North. To celebrate the game’s imminent August 31 release date, ArenaNet is hosting the Eye of the North Sneak Peek Weekend from August 24 to August 26. Players will have a chance to explore the frozen north testing their strength and endurance in the Far Shiverpeaks. To participate players can purchase the Guild Wars: Eye of the North pre-release Bonus pack currently on sale at retailers in North America and Europe, in the Guild Wars in-game store, and at PlayNC.com.
The Guild Wars franchise has set an industry standard with its subscription-free business model and dedication to award-winning content and co-operative and competitive online play.
“ArenaNet’s fantastic work on Guild Wars has helped make NCsoft the leading online gaming publisher in the world,” said Robert Garriott, CEO of NCsoft North America. “Guild Wars players continue to join in droves and stay loyal to the franchise thanks to a business model that makes for a very accessible product. We are all excited about the future of Guild Wars with the expansion ready to be released and Guild Wars 2 â„¢ on the horizon.”
“Four million units sold is an impressive number and demonstrates that Guild Wars is a proven franchise,” said Bob McKenzie, Senior Vice President of Merchandising, GameStop Corporation. “The Guild Wars franchise delivers an outstanding gaming experience and is clearly an important part of our PC games offerings.”
