NCsoft's New City of Heroes Expansion Unites Heroes and Villains vs Alien Threat

rikti.JPGNCsoft’s new City of Heroes expansion Issue 10: Invasion unites City of Heroes and City of Villains players against a common alien threat. Heroes and Villains will now be able to team together to fight the Rikti, if they can stop fighting amongst themselves long enough to do so. The expansion will be free to all current players and includes a major over haul of the Rikti Crash Site Zone which will be designated the Rikti War Zone as well as a new Rikti co-op task force. The Rikti invasion will be a global event with major attacks on both Paragon City and Rogue Isles.

“This expansion unleashes total war where aliens and earthlings get great new weapons to bludgeon each other with. We think this will be great fun,” Miller said. “The fact that both heroes and villains need to join together to defeat a common enemy is a comic book convention that helps to add greater depth and excitement to City of Heroes and City of Villains.”

Players new to the game that want to get in on the fun can purchase the City of Heroes “Good Versus Evil Edition” game pack. Check out the article in GamesIndustry.biz for all the details.

I’ve been wondering when City of Heroes would do a collaboration of heroes and villains against a common enemy. I’m sure this tentative alliance won’t last, but it will be fun to see how well it works. Unfortunately the action is strictly for character levels 45-50 so casual gamers aren’t likely to get in on the fun.
