Need for Speed the Run Bringing Out of Car Action With Frostbite 2

Onstage at EA’s E3 2011 press conference, Black Box Studios has just announced a first for the Need for Speed series. In The Run, gamers will be able, and in fact required to leave their car for sequences of on foot play. Using the Frostbite 2 engine (the same one utilized for Battlefield 3), Black Box is creating what the trailer shown at the conference looks to be a series of quick time events.

The trailer shows off a chase across rooftops with button prompts, ending in the theft of a police car to continue the driving action.

Also announced was the tracking of every action you take through Autolog, the system that connected racers in Need for Speed Hot Pursuit.

We’ll have the trailer for you as soon as it’s available.
