Neil Burger Starting “From Scratch” on Uncharted Movie

Crave Online has an interview with new Uncharted movie director Neil Burger, and he has some things to say about where they’re at on the film as of right now:

I haven’t seen [David O. Russell's] screenplay on it. Mainly we’re beginning from scratch and going back to the video game. Because there’s a lot of cool stuff, actually, from the video game…

So they’re starting over, and Burger also says they haven’t even started thinking about who to cast as Drake, and they aren’t going to start that process until they write a new script. So I guess the insane Nathan Fillion fanboys can start beating that drum again.

Heard the rumors about the Nolan North book? We report from Comic-Con 2011.

I never watched Firefly nor played uncharted, so I can’t see the desire of this Fillion guy. But I wouldn’t expect the movie guys to listen to the fans. I’ve seen too many video game movies butchered because instead of working off the source material or listening to the fans, the movie folks decide to do whatever the they want.

Remember the DOOM movie? How easy that could have been made great. Oh, but the demon’s can’t be from hell….or be real demons. Wow. I’m sorry, hellspawn are scarier than a cripple in a wheelchair turning into a mutated monster due to a disease.

Lets make a Wolfenstein movie, where BJ Blaskowitz battles sea creatures and space aliens.
