Netflix Streaming Is About to Go On ‘Roids
So Paramount, Lionsgate and MGM launched a TV channel called Epix last year. And Netflix just signed a deal for, like, a billion dollars that will allow them to stream those companies’ movies starting 90 days after Epix starts showing them and ending when the movies start showing up on cable. That’s a window of more than a year.
What this means for you immediately is that on September 1, you’ll be able to stream to your game console of choice Benjamin Button, The Godfather and G.I. f**king Joe (if you haven’t seen it, watch it on September 1). Later on, you’ll get Star Trek and Iron Man 2.
Now we just have to hope that, unlike Starz Play, you’ll be able to stream these puppies in HD. Because holy crap that would be awesome. It also means I’ll probably never send back this blu-ray of Public Enemies I’ve had sitting on my TV stand for a month.
