Neverwinter Character Stats and Item Slots Detailed
Cryptic Games put up some new details about its upcoming free-to-play MMORPG, Neverwinter. Unlike the studio’s previous offerings, which include Champions Online and Star Trek Online, Cryptic is building Neverwinter to be along the lines of ArenaNet’s Guild Wars titles, as a free-to-play game from the ground up.
The studio released a host of screenshots (a couple of which I’ve embedded in this post) along with an in-depth look at how the game’s combat system will work as players embark upon their adventure in the Forgotten Realms, the setting in which this game—like almost every other D&D title, is set.
The dev blog reveals that player characters will have a host of item slots for which to outfit their characters, which range from the usual—head, armor, arms, and feet—to the less common—neck, waist, shirt (under armor), and trousers. Like other MMOs, players will be able to fully customize their characters and specialize their playstyle based on the equipment they wield.
In addition to details about the armor, Cryptic also revealed the various stats that will come into play for each character. These include Power for raw damage; Critical Strike for higher crit chance; Recovery, which reduces the cooldown rates of your special “Encounter” abilities; Defense, which reduces damage; Deflect, which adds a chance to block damage entirely; and the self-explanatory Regeneration, and Life Steal.
Perfect World is publishing the game later this year.
